The Lady of the Lake, Sweet Dreams ~ Alex

The Lady Of The Lake

Synopsis (Taken from Wikipedia)

Merlin rescues a lovely young Druid girl but her former captor says she was cursed.

Review

Well! I no longer ship Morgana and Merlin. I now ship Merlin and the Druid girl. Honestly, I know she was cursed but they are still adorable together as heck.
Also, Merlin would literally be the best boyfriend ever. He saw her at her absolute worst and he STILL loves her like DAMN! That is just...DAMN!

Sweet Dreams

Synopsis (taken from Wikipedia)

Five kings gather in Camelot to sign a peace treaty, but one of them intends to scupper the talks. King Alined's jester uses magic to enchant Prince Arthur and the beautiful Lady Vivian to incite a war between her possessive father, King Olaf, and Camelot.

Review

So...can we just talk about how ridiculous Arthur acts when he is under a spell. It is probably the best thing ever. This love spell made him completely insane. I mean challenging a king for his daughters hand. Also, the king being THAT protective about his daughter. It's kind of just ridiculous. But that's why I loved this episode

Guys, you are probably going to hate me, but I am no longer going to be doing Merlin Reviews. I AM SORRY! I stopped watching it for a while and then when I went back to watch it I had to stop again and then I started watching Vampire Diaries because one of my friends who is obsessed with the show wanted me too, so I will Probably blog Vampire Diaries instead, but I will do it season per season and then eventually compare it to the books as soon as I read them. I am sorry! If you want me to finish blogging and reviewing Merlin, just comment and I will. It only takes one comment!

The Witchfinder, The Sins of the Father ~ Alex

The Witchfinder

Synopsis (taken from Wikipedia)

A harmless bit of magic by Merlin brings the wrath of Uther's witchfinder down on Camelot. The witchfinder accuses Merlin of being a sorcerer but it is Gaius who takes the fall.

Review

I can't even stress how much I love Gaius. He is defiantly my favorite character because he WAS willing to die completely for Morgana and Merlin both. He was willing to ruin his name in Camelot to die for them and names back then were a huge thing.
I also really appreciate how much Arthur stands up for Merlin and the trust Arthur has for Merlin.

I give this episode a 2.5 out of 5 stars

The Sins of the Father

Synopsis (taken from Wikipedia)

Arthur faces a challenge from a mysterious knight who turns out to be a woman. He is forced to face Morgause in a battle to the death. She defeats him but spares his life in exchange for a promise to meet her and further tempts him with the knowledge that she knew his mother. What Arthur discovers when Morgause uses her sorcery to allow him to speak with his dead mother, forces Merlin to lie in order to stop Prince Arthur from killing his father.

Review

Why can't Uther just die already? Like seriously! He has made so many bad choices and it's just ridiculous. Especially after this episode it has made me hate him even more. And just ugh! Arthur just needs to be king already.
I have a really bad feeling that sorcerer in this show will be back later. She seems like a character who isn't going to stay away for long.

I give this episode a 3 out of 5 stars

The Nightmare Begins, Lancelot and Guinevere ~ Alex

The Nightmare Begins

Synopsis (Taken from Wikipedia)

Morgana begins to suspect she has magic and Merlin wants to help despite Gaius' warning not to get involved. When Merlin assists Morgana to reach out to the Druids for help, King Uther declares she has been abducted and sends Arthur with a party of knights to kill the kidnappers and rescue Morgana.

Review

Let me just say this I ship Merlin and Morgana. There I said it people I said it. I ship Merlin and Morgana. Obviously they aren't my otp, nor will they be because Captainswan has that place filled. Mmmmmmm captainswan, but I ship Morgana and Merlin.
The reason I ship them is because in this episode Merlin defies what Gauis said to help Morgana feel special. He did it because he didn't want her to live in the dark like he had to. I just think it was very shippable of him.

I give this episode a 2 and a half stars out of five.

Lancelot and Guinivere

Synopsis

A gang of criminals abduct Morgana and Guinevere intending to force King Uther to ransom his ward. When Morgana escapes, her abductor attempts to pass off Gwen as the king's ward. While imprisoned, Gwen discovers Lancelot working for the kidnappers. As Arthur and Merlin attempt to rescue Guinevere, she and Lancelot also make a bid for freedom.

Review

OKAY I DONT KNOW WHO TO SHIP GWEN WITH MORE!!! ARTHUR OR LANCELOT! I am pretty sure THAT ^ was the exact intent of the writers, and if so YOU WRITERS ARE EVIL LITTLE CREATURES!! Cruel cruel little buggers.
I ship Lancelot and Gwen so much because Lancelot is the sweetest thing on planet earth and he was willing to die for Gwen and he actually shows her his love for her.
Arthur on the other hand is sweet to her and he is the prince and he is trying to be a better man for her AND he is also willing to die for her, but he doesn't show his feeling for her BECAUSE HE CANT! Ugh!!! Why can't this show just be simple on shipping.

Honestly though I give this episode a five out of five stars because I loved it so.

Beauty and the Beast - Part 1 and 2 ~ Alex

Hey guys!!! Since this is a two parter episode I am just gonna clump the synopsis and review as one episode. Sound good? Good. Also, I have started taking the synopsis from Wikipedia because I find it so much easier than writing them myself, but it isn't plagerism as long as I quote it. And the "taken from Wikipedia" is me quoting it, and giving them credit.

Beauty and the Beast

Synopsis (taken from Wikipedia)

The lone survivor of an attack on a nobleman's household and her odd servant obtain refuge with an old friend, King Uther, but she is not what she appears. Even when Merlin successfully unmasks the troll for what she really is, her enchantment continues to hold her new husband, King Uther. It will take Arthur's death to break the spell.

Review

Guys! I freaking loved these episodes. They were so amazingly hilarious. I think the funniest thing for me was definitely the second part where they unmasked her, but because of the spell he was under he still thought she was beautiful and not a troll. Even though she was completely acting natural.
Another thing I found hilarious was in the first part whenever she was alone she dropped her pasture and started acting like a troll. I have to give credit to the actress who played her, she has got some talent.
I give this episode a definite 5 out of 5 stars

The Curse of Cornelius Sigan and The Once and Future Queen ~ Alex

Well hello there people of the Internet. Sooooooooo I'm back. And I am still not dead yet.

Before I had done several Merlin reviews in one episode, but now I am only going to do two, because that means y'all will get more posts! YIPEE!

The Curse of Cornelius Sigan

Synopsis

In the beginning some of the people in Camelot have struck a tumb of a dead warrior. A man comes to Camelot in search of riches and he hears about the tumb. He sabotages Merlin by taking his job and he gets close enough to Arthur to be able to get his keys and he gets into the tumb of the dead warrior.

Review

Let me just say this that man who took Merlin's job was stupid. He was a greedy stupid man. *spoiler alert* he was so stupid and greedy that he let a dead sorcerer take over his body. THE SORCERER WAS DEAD!

Other than the fact that I find the man utterly stupid, I do believe it was a good episode. It kept me entertained the whole time.

This episode is hard for me to remember though because I got half way through and then I had to stop because of reason and I didn't find the episode good enough to restart and watch from the beginning so, I just started from where I left off. But it wasn't the worst, but wasn't my favorite.

I'd give this episode a 3 out of 5 stars

The Once and Future Queen

Synopsis

In this episode of Merlin, Arthur is tired of being treated like the Prince. Everyone always goes easy on him when they are fighting him because he is the Prince. He decides to enlist the help of Merlin, who goes and finds a farmer from one of the villages and enrolls him in a jousting tournament. He does this so Arthur can then take his place so Arthur is allowed to fight opponents without them going easy. What Arthur doesn't know is by him "disappearing" from Camelot he was actually saving his life as a man is in Camelot to kill him.

Review

First of, I ship Arthur and Gwen! THEY ARE SO CUTE TOGETHER AND I SHIP THEM! The good thing is if anyone knows anything about the original myth of King Arthur, they'll know Gwen and Arthur do get married. This show hasn't followed the myth very well, but...I hope they follow this part at least.

Anyways, I found this episode really good. I loved how Arthur was trying and making an effort to have Gwen not treat him like a Prince and he actually sat there and let her tell him what was wrong with him and what he was doing wrong.

Also, I find Arthur extremely attractive so seeing him fight basically the whole episode was AMAZING.

I give this episode a 3.5 out of 5 stars. It wasn't a horrible episode, and it wasn't 3 stars worthy, but I feel like 4 stars would be an overstatement.

Merlin season 1 ~ The Moment of Truth, The Labyrinth of Gedref, To KillThe King, Le Morte d'Arthur

The Moment Of Truth

Synopsis

Merlin's home village is attracted by warriors looking to steal the villages money and resources like food and such. Once the Warriors attack Merlin's mother seeks out Merlin in Camelot. Once the king, Othur, refuses to help the village because they aren't within his soil Merlin decides to go back and help defend his village. Morgana, Gwen, and Arthur all come along with him even though he never asked.
Once they get to the village the villagers decide to fight for their right to keep what they earn. Merlin then has to decide whether he is willing to show Arthur and the villagers his true self to save them, or let the Warriors kill most if not all of them by keeping it a secret.

Review

To be honest in this episode Anderson from Sherlock is in it and I love him. I know all you Sherlock fans reading this might hate me for saying this, but I actually really like Anderson...and this episode, because the actor who plays Anderson is in it, made me realize how much I do like Anderson.

I give it a 4 out of 5 stars

The Labyrinth of Gedref

Synopsis

ARTHUR KILLED A UNICORN!

As you can tell from ^ in this episode of Merlin, Arthur kills a unicorn while hunting and brings a curse upon Camelot and all the villages that are under Othur's rule.
Arthur has to undergo tests to prove he is pure of heart before the curse is lifted. If Arthur doesn't pass the test the kingdom will continue to live without food and water.

Review

I really did love this episode a lot. It is probably my favorite so far, but that is because I love unicorns. At first when I saw that there were going to be unicorns in it I was scare that they were going to make me scared of unicorns, but they kept them pure of heart and nice which was really amazing.

I give this episode a 5 out of 5 stars.

To Kill The King

Synopsis

Gwen's father is caught helping a Toreen so he is sentenced to death even though he didn't know he was working with a sorcerer. Morgana is furious about this because she cares deeply for Gwen. Morgana finds a stone that belongs to the Toreen so she goes and meets them and Morgana then plots to kill Othur with the help of the Toreen so Arthur can reign and make a stop to the killing of people who have to do with magic.

Review

This episode was honestly heart breaking for me because I loved Gwen's father and I love Gwen. I am actually starting to ship Gwen with Arthur too. Honestly I will ship Gwen with whoever makes Gwen the happiest because she deserves happiness! I want her to be happy, she needs to be happy, end of story. She is too nice to not be happy.

I give this episode a 4.5 out of 5 stars

Le Morte d'Arthur

Synopsis

In this episode of Merlin Arthur is bitten by a Griffin and if you are bitten by a Griffin you are destined to die and there is no cure. Merlin seeks out the help of the dragon and he tells Merlin that a Griffin is made from the old religion, so only something that comes from the old religion can save Arthur from death.
Merlin seeks out the Island where the center of the old religion is. When he gets there he soon figures out that the coast to save Arthur's life, is for someone else to die. A life for a life. Merlin then offers his own life in order to save Arthur's.
When Merlin gets home from the island he give Arthur the cure and then the next morning something that nobody planned for happens. Merlin and Arthur are both still alive, but someone is dying in Merlin's place and Merlin is not happy about the decision.

Review

I literally loved this episode so freaking much. It is probably my favorite. This episode was also a tear jerker, defiantly a tear jerker. There are a total of EIGHT times where the show makes you think someone is going to die. And I thought the directors of Sherlock and Doctor Who were cruel.

I give this episode a 5 out of 5 stars for sure.

Merlin A Remedy to Cure All Ills, The Gates Of Avalon, The Beginning OfThe End, and Excalibur

A Remedy To Cure All Ills

Synopsis

Morgana falls ill and Gaius is brought in to try and heal her, when he is unable to heal her the king seeks help of a physician who just came to Camelot claiming he has a remedy to cure all illnesses.
The king allows this physician to work on her and he ends up healing her and tells the king the Gaius was wrong and he eventually ends up telling him that Gaius is wrong on a lot of other things gaining the king's trust fast because he cured Morgana. Gaius eventually learns the truth about the physician and finds himself in some pretty deep trouble as he doesn't know what to do.

Review

I loved this episode, I find that it was very attention grabbing. Can I just say this, I love Gaius, he is so adorable. Also, I love the fact that he loves Merlin so much and it's just amazing I love him.

I give this episode a 4 stars out of 5

The Gates of Avalon

Synopsis

Morgana has a nightmare one night that a woman is drowning Arthur and the next day that woman shows up in Camelot.
The woman who was in Morgana's dreams wants Arthur to fall in love with her and eventually uses magic on him to make him fall In love. Her father and her need Arthur because in order to be granted immortality they need his soul.

Review

I didn't like this episode as much as others, but that is probably because of the fangirl within me. I did not ship Arthur with that girl at all and that was pretty much all I could think of while watching this episode. Because when a fangirl, like myself, does not like a ship WE ARE NOT HAPPY UNTIL THAT SHIP IS DESTROYED!

I would give this episode a 2.5 out of 5 stars.

The Beginning Of The End

Synopsis

In this episode of Merlin there is a young boy who's father was killed because he was practicing magic. The child calls out for Merlin in his head asking him for help. Merlin gets him to a safe place in Morgana's room and they hid the child from the guards.
Merlin soon figures out that if the boy lives Arthur's future later on will be troubled by said boy, but instead of letting him die Merlin helps the boy escape and go back to his people.

Review

I really enjoyed this episode of Merlin, like a lot. I love when shows do this sort of stuff where they foreshadow I love it. In this episode they foreshadowed at the end with this little boy, they told us his name, and I indeed did have to look up the name, but DAMN! WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT!

I give this episode a 4 out of 5 stars

Excalibur

Synopsis

A sorcerer has brought one of Othur's enemies back to life and when the black knight comes back and challenges whoever picks up the gauntlet to a match to the death everyone who fights him dies.
Merlin and Gaius come up with the consensus that he is in fact brought back from the dead and the only way they can defeat this black knight is if they use a magical item. When Merlin goes to talk to the Dragon who is able to forge such a weapon he makes it, but tells Merlin that it is to be used by Arthur and Arthur only and something happens and it isn't used by Arthur

Review

I think the reason that I loved this episode so much was because it is one of the first episodes where Othur is showing kindness and love towards his son when he refuses to let Arthur fight because he know he will die.
Also, Can we admire the Dragon in this show. This dragon is chained down and cannot go anywhere and he has probably been through hell and back, but he still decides to help Merlin keep Arthur, the son of the man who imprisoned him, safe.

I give this episode a 3.5 out of 5 stars

Gwen's father soon grows ill and Merlin heals him, but the king find Gwen guilty of the crime and sentences her to death. Merlin, Arthur, and Morgana all go to defeat the avank and save Gwen from her certain death.

Review

I liked, but didn't love this episode of Merlin. I think it was a very interesting episode and it defiantly did keep my attention the whole time I just think that I didn't like the plot line all that much.
I will say this, I ship Merlin and Gwen all the way do I ship it.

I would give this a 3 out of 5 stars

Season 1 episode 4 The Poisoned Chalice

Synopsis

In Episode four, season 1 of Merlin there is a powerful sorcerer and she disguises herself as a maid. Camelot has just made a friendship with a kingdom they have been fighting with for ages. The sorcerer decides to trick Merlin by telling him the cup Arthur is about to drink out of is poisoned, which it actually is.
Somehow she knew that Merlin would drink out of the poisoned cup, so all this goes to her plan. Merlin get incredibly I'll and Arthur has to go out and collect the leaves of the flower that is making him so I'll in order to cure him, but they aren't easily found.

Review

Unlike the last episode, I loved this episode. I think this episode caught my attention much better and it had a much better plot line all together. Plus Arthur is extremely attractive when he is fighting, I have to say. Again, I ship Merlin and Gwen so very much.

I would give this a 4 out of 5 stars

Season 1 Episode 5 Lancelot

Synopsis

A Griffin has come to Camelot and it likes to feed on the people of Camelot. Merlin is one of the first people to encounter the Griffin and he was saved by a man named Lancelot who is on his way to try to win the title of a knight.
Once Lancelot gets to Camelot him an Merlin soon figure out that he cannot become a knight unless he is of noble blood. They find a way around that, or do they think.
Merlin and Lancelot figure out that the Griffin can only be killed by magic which the King refuse to believe because he is anti magic.

Review

I LOVED this episode. I think this episode was incredible. I also think that Lancelot is very attractive...whoever cast the characters for Merlin has a good eye for attractive men. Arthur, Lancelot, and Merlin are all very attractive. I mean look at them.

I give this episode a 5 out of 5 stars

FUNNY MOMENTS FROM ALL THREE EPISODES

Merlin The Dragon's Call, Valiant ~ Alex

Okay, So There are so many episodes of Merlin so what I have decided to do is review them as I watch them. Like say I watch four episodes in a row without being able to blog so I would write a blog post about those four episodes. Make sense?
So, Last night I watched the first two Episodes of Merlin. The Dragon's Call and Valiant.

The Dragon's Call

Synopsis

The first episode of Merlin starts off with Merlin coming to Camelot. The first thing he sees is someone be killed for using magic. A witch then comes and confronts the king in front of everyone. She threatens to kill the king's son because he killed her son. "An eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth" is what she uttered.
After that everything settled down a little bit and Merlin went to the place where he was originally sent to Camelot to go to go. When Merlin shows up there he ends up having to use his magic to save the man he is intended to work for. Throughout the episode Merlin struggles with the law of "no using magic". Eventually the witch who threatened to kill the prince comes back, but in disguise.
Review

This being my first episode of Merlin that I have watched, personally I loved it. As you can tell from the fact that I kept watching the show. I have come up with a theory that I just have an obsession with Arthur and Camelot and such, because as you saw from my previous review of Quest For Camelot, I am OBSESSED with that, so it only makes sense to be obsessed with this too right?
Anyways, I love the character of Arthur AND Merlin. I find both of them attractive, I mean look at these beautiful men.

Valiant

Synopsis

Merlin has now become Prince Arthur's Servant because he saved Arthur's life when a witch (See in last synopsis) tried to kill Arthur. Prince Arthur has entered in a sword fighting Tournament where he is soaring right on up to "first place" as you would put it. Basically, he kept winning sword fights.
The man who in the end he is to face has been found to be cheating the whole time by using a magical shield that has the snakes that are painted on them come to life when the person holding the shield, or whoever says a spell.

Review

Again, I loved this episode of Merlin. In the first episode I will admit I did not take a liking to Prince Arthur because he was very full of himself, but in this episode he is definitely getting better with his attitude towards Merlin. I will probably always love Merlin though.
I think that these episodes are very well written, the only thing I have to say is I don't really think it follows the original myths of Merlin and Arthur, but the thing is there are so many different versions of each myth so maybe the show Merlin is based off of a version of the myth I have not heard of. But even if they made up their own myth by keeping the basis of each character it'll still be okay, because again it is a myth.
